## Description

The Western Society of Criminology (WSC) is an esteemed organization dedicated to the study and advancement of criminology in the western regions of the United States and Canada. Established in 1977, following its origins as the Western Division of the American Society of Criminology, the WSC actively promotes scholarly research, professional development, and networking among criminologists and criminal justice practitioners.

The organization hosts an annual conference that rotates locations across the western region, providing members with opportunities to collaborate, share insights, and discuss current criminology topics. WSC also produces two significant publications: The Western Criminologist newsletter and the peer-reviewed journal, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law & Society, fostering academic dialogue and publication for researchers in the field.

Additionally, the WSC recognizes outstanding contributions to criminology through various awards and offers membership options for individuals and institutions, enhancing professional connections within the field. For those passionate about criminology, the WSC serves as a vital platform for growth and engagement.
