CWSF, the Council of Western State Foresters, is a nonpartisan and nonprofit membership organization that consists of 17 western State Foresters and six U. S. -Affiliated Pacific Island Foresters.

Their primary mission is to promote the conservation, protection, and sustainable management of forests in the western states for present and future generations. As a collective organization, CWSF leads in taking action, facilitates learning, shares resources, provides expert knowledge and information, advocates for outreach, and engages with partners. They address key issues in western forestry, such as climate change, forest health, sustainability, water, and wildfire.

CWSF also manages and coordinates the Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC), which is a partnership between western State Foresters and leaders from the USDA Forest Service.
