## Description

The West Highland Museum, founded in 1922 by local enthusiasts including Victor Hodgson, is one of the oldest museums in the Highlands. Nestled in Fort William, this accredited museum serves as a vital cultural hub, dedicated to preserving and presenting the rich history of the West Highlands. Its diverse collections span archaeology, Jacobite memorabilia, Victorian artifacts, and historical items related to military life, providing a comprehensive glimpse into the area's past. The museum aims to offer an engaging and educational experience for both locals and visitors, with plans for future redevelopment to enhance accessibility and expand exhibition spaces. Key features include artifacts from notable collections, such as the Alexander Carmichael collection and WWII commando memorabilia. The West Highland Museum also hosts community events and educational workshops, fostering connections among visitors. As an independent charity reliant on donations, it invites support to safeguard its collections and enrich the cultural landscape of the Highlands for generations to come.
