## Description

Gersh Autism Academy West Hills is a specialized school in Huntington, New York, serving students who may not thrive in traditional educational settings. Formerly known as West Hills Academy, the campus has decades of experience supporting students with social, emotional, or developmental challenges. Set across 18 scenic acres, it offers a welcoming, nature-rich environment with a pond, greenhouse, outdoor classrooms, playgrounds, sensory spaces, and areas for experiential learning.

The academy combines individualized academic instruction with embedded therapeutic and behavioral support. Small classes and one-to-one assistance help tailor learning to each student, while approaches such as Collaborative Problem Solving and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy support emotional and social growth. Services available through Gersh include mental health care, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. At West Hills, students can also develop practical skills through vocational training and high school internships, preparing for greater independence after graduation.
