## Description

The Westpreußische Gesellschaft brings together people in Germany and Poland with an interest in West Prussia, the former Prussian province that ceased to exist in 1920. The organisation explores the region’s history and culture while supporting German-Polish understanding. Its work addresses the lower Vistula area, a historically diverse region shaped by cultural exchange as well as serious national conflicts.

The Society organises conferences and publishes the quarterly Magazin Westpreußen, alongside other resources, including the Westpreußen-Jahrbuch and Westpreußen-Kalender. Its website helps visitors discover the region, remember its past, and learn about current research and exhibitions. Topics range from the history of former German residents to the contributions of German and Polish historians, cultural historians, exhibition makers, and family researchers.

The Society also encourages people to experience the region, highlighting destinations such as the Bay of Gdańsk, Toruń’s historic centre, Malbork Castle, and Kashubian Switzerland. Through publications, events, and opportunities for exploration, it keeps interest in West Prussia alive and fosters a shared engagement with its complex heritage.
