## Description

Kreismuseum Wewelsburg is a county museum based at Wewelsburg, a distinctive triangular castle above the Alme Valley in Büren-Wewelsburg, Germany. Built by the Prince-Bishops of Paderborn between 1603 and 1609 in the Weser Renaissance style, the castle now provides a setting for exploring regional history and its complex past. The museum’s Historical Museum presents the history of the Prince-Bishopric of Paderborn, while the Wewelsburg Memorial and Museum 1933–1945 examines the history of the SS and the Nazi era. Visitors can also discover changing special exhibitions, attend events, and explore loan exhibitions. The museum offers group visits, educational programs for schools and other audiences, and visitor resources including online tickets, a podcast, and an online shop. Its programs serve individuals, families, groups, walkers, and cyclists, with activities designed to make history accessible and engaging. The castle grounds, on-site hospitality, and a youth hostel offer additional ways to spend time at this historic site. Through exhibitions and educational initiatives, Kreismuseum Wewelsburg connects local heritage with remembrance and democratic learning.
