What started as a haulage business by William John Davies and his wife Rachel has now developed into a renowned provider of a wide range of products and services. Initially based in Copper Pit Yard, Landore, the business expanded its fleet of vehicles and trailers over the years, eventually relocating to its current site at St David's Road in Swansea in 1966.

With the involvement of John Davies and Vivian Davies, the sons of the founders, the business responsibilities were split, focusing on fleet maintenance and transport respectively. Under the guidance of John Davies (Managing Director) and Eirwen Davies (Company Secretary), W G Davies seized opportunities to enhance vehicle maintenance services, catering to both large and small customers. In 1985, the brand became an ERF dealer after successfully completing recall work for the National Coal Board.

This led to a Parts and Service Franchise, solidifying W G Davies' reputation. The company continued to grow and expand, adding depots in Sageston, Tenby, and Haverfordwest. These additional branches enabled W G Davies to offer comprehensive parts and service operations to customers from diverse industries.
