Description
The Village of White Pigeon, established in 1837, is the oldest incorporated village in Michigan. It served as an outpost of civilization during a time when much of the surrounding area was still undeveloped wilderness. With a rich history, White Pigeon was home to the county's first hotel in 1828 and witnessed the operation of a stagecoach between Tecumseh, White Pigeon, and Niles in 1831 and 1832.
Today, the Village of White Pigeon offers a range of services and amenities to its residents and visitors. The village administration is dedicated to maintaining a high level of service and provides various departments, including the Village Office, Clerk and Treasurer, Police Department, Department of Public Works, and Zoning Department. The village also maintains a comprehensive collection of historical information, documents, and records.
In addition to its services, the Village of White Pigeon hosts the Community Market Days, held on Saturdays at the Depot Park from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This market provides an opportunity for both locals and tourists to explore and support local vendors, offering a variety of products.
