## Description

Carboncopies Foundation is an organization focused on advancing research, education, and public discussion around whole brain emulation (WBE), the proposed creation of a detailed digital model of a biological brain. Its work includes supporting an updated WBE Roadmap that brings together expert input, workshops, public comments, preprints, and published research sections. The roadmap examines the scientific and technical challenges involved in mapping brain structure and simulating its functions.

The Foundation’s research resources include BrainGenix, a suite of tools and documentation covering virtual brain platforms, simulations, virtual microscopy, visualization, and related experimental workflows. It also runs the Brain Emulation Challenge, which invites participants to work on defined levels and submit solutions. Educational offerings include lectures, media, writing, and introductory material on brain emulation, brain preservation, and related questions. Through newsletters, podcasts, events, workshops, journal clubs, and internships, Carboncopies connects people interested in neuroscience, technology, philosophy, and ethics. Its materials also explore the potential implications of emulated minds, including questions of identity, consciousness, and responsible development.
