Description

Whole Health is a brand focused on holistic well-being and the transformation of health. Founded in 2019 by philanthropist Alice Walton, the nonprofit Whole Health Institute aims to address physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Recognizing the need for a whole-person approach to healthcare, the Institute works with health systems partners and communities to amplify and advocate for this transformative approach.

Whole Health Institute is driven by the belief that the United States, despite being the highest spender on healthcare globally, lags in overall health rankings. The COVID-19 pandemic further revealed the importance of addressing inequalities and mental health issues while harnessing the power of communities for change. Aligned with the Institute's vision, the Alice L.

Walton School of Medicine and Health Sciences was established in 2021 to provide a comprehensive medical degree program that integrates foundational sciences, clinical practices, and compassionate care. Pending accreditation, the School will welcome its inaugural class of 48 students in 2025. Whole Health Institute collaborates with national and regional health systems to increase access and expand specialty services in the Northwest Arkansas region.

By redesigning education and delivery models, including the creation of a regional academic health system, the Institute, School of Medicine, and health system partners aim to improve overall health and quality of life for the local community and serve as a model for healthcare transformation. The team at Whole Health Institute is comprised of clinicians, strategists, and change-makers who are dedicated to putting people at the center of their health journey. They seek to empower and engage partners and individuals to make whole health accessible to all.

Outside of healthcare, Alice Walton, the founder of Whole Health Institute, has also made significant contributions to the art and cultural landscape. She established the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2005, which aims to unite the power of art with the beauty of nature. Located in Bentonville, Arkansas, the museum has welcomed 5.

Additionally, Alice Walton founded the Art Bridges Foundation in 2017 to expand access to American art across the nation by providing funding support to museums and creating projects that educate, inspire, and engage local communities. Moreover, Alice Walton is committed to creating access and inclusivity in diverse communities.

Through the Alice L. Walton Foundation, she focuses on expanding and diversifying educational opportunities to help individuals achieve a secure and fulfilling life. The foundation has supported initiatives such as increasing teacher diversity, expanding art programs at universities, and diversifying museum leadership.

Recently, the foundation partnered with Cleveland Clinic to assess and provide access to specialty care services in Northwest Arkansas.
