## Description

Wide Spot is the writing and contemplative practice website of Therese DesCamp, a writer whose work explores the sacredness, complexity, and emotional depth of everyday life. Through essays and spoken-word offerings, DesCamp reflects on spiritual growth, consciousness, nature, memory, family, and the joys and sorrows of daily experience. The site features Hands Like Roots, a book-length collection of essays about the uneven, humorous, and sometimes heartbreaking path of spiritual life. Its Writings section brings together Wide Spot, monthly short essays written for the Valley Voice newspaper, and Stillpoints, a varied collection addressing subjects from bears and Alzheimer’s to St. Francis of Assisi and the Eucharist. Podcasts offer contemplative practices and audio versions of selected essays. Visitors can also find information about DesCamp, her calendar, and collaborations, and may contact her for retreat outlines and practices. Readers are welcome to use the material with attribution. Donations help cover the costs of keeping the resources available; Canadian supporters can send an e-transfer, while others may send a cheque.
