## Description

WikDict is a free, open bilingual dictionary service by Karl Bartel, designed to make looking up translations simple and accessible. Its ad-free web interface supports language pairs including English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Polish, Italian, Japanese, and many others. With more than 17.7 million translations across 26 languages, WikDict offers a substantial resource for language learners, readers, and anyone working with foreign-language text.

In addition to individual word searches, WikDict provides a Reader that annotates whole passages with inline translations, helping users understand text in context. The service is built around openness: its dictionary data, data-generation tools, and web interface source code can be inspected, modified, and redistributed. Users can also access the dictionaries offline through compatible dictionary applications, with downloadable data available in several formats. WikDict’s translation data comes from Wiktionary via DBnary and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.
