## Description

**WikiTree**

WikiTree is a collaborative platform dedicated to constructing an accurate global family tree that connects individuals and families for free, forever. Launched in 2008 by Chris Whitten and hosted by Interesting.com, Inc., it aims to balance privacy and collaboration, allowing users to work with family members on modern heritage while progressively opening access to historical ancestors. The site emphasizes the importance of responsible genealogical research and validation through sources and DNA.

Members of the WikiTree community can enjoy a wealth of genealogical resources without any charges, as there are no premium memberships. Instead, the platform is sustained by volunteer contributions and modest public advertising. The WikiTree team works diligently alongside community members to enhance the site's tools and infrastructure, ensuring a seamless experience for all users. With a commitment to preserving collective history, WikiTree invites everyone to connect with their past and share their genealogical journey openly.
