## Description

Wild Garsdale Pike is a youth-led environmental charity project in Garsdale, Cumbria, working to enhance the ecosystem and biodiversity of around 200 acres of high pasture, fell and peat bog. In response to habitat and species decline, the project explores how conservation can sit alongside farming, tourism and other land uses, combining practical activity with small-scale research to guide land management.

A central part of its work is the Youth Steering Group for people aged 13 to 25. Members visit the site regularly, gain conservation and research experience, meet specialists, and work with trustees to shape decisions and trial approaches. The project also offers opportunities for schools, youth clubs, home-education groups, community organisations and charities to take part in learning and site visits.

Activities include habitat surveys and monitoring, peat bog restoration, scrub planting and conservation grazing with cows, pigs and ponies. Wild Garsdale Pike is developing outdoor learning programmes and a Youth Ambassador Scheme, while using mapping and remote monitoring to support research and share findings.
