## Description

**Wildlife Conservation Society**  
Established in 1993, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a Sri Lankan non-profit organization focused on preserving the country’s rich biodiversity through dedicated conservation efforts. Registered under the Central Environmental Authority, WCS engages in comprehensive research and projects aimed at protecting flora and fauna, particularly in Sri Lanka’s lowland rainforests, which are vital ecosystems harboring many endemic species.

WCS runs impactful initiatives such as the "Wild Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Program," the “Mangrove and Rainforest Restoration Program,” and the award-winning “3R Program” for critically endangered hog deer. Beyond conservation, WCS emphasizes awareness through educational programs for school children and the general public, fostering a community committed to wildlife preservation.

With three research and educational centers, including a wildlife hospital and a facility near the Sinharaja World Heritage Site, WCS actively collaborates with various organizations, contributing to scientific literature and ecological research to ensure a sustainable future for both wildlife and people in Sri Lanka.
