## Description

The Wildlife Connectivity Institute is a science-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to identifying, protecting, and restoring wildlife habitat and connectivity. Working with partners, it addresses fragmented landscapes and helps prevent further disruption of important habitats through research, education, and outreach. Its programs focus on transportation ecology, wildlife connectivity, and education. The Institute studies how wildlife use crossing structures and other mitigation measures, as well as where animals need safe passage for daily movement and migration amid human development and climate change. Its work includes statewide and site-specific studies of wildlife-vehicle conflicts, crossing opportunities, and mitigation performance. Active projects span states including South Dakota, Massachusetts, Colorado, and Utah, with additional research and initiatives across North America. The organization also shares scientific knowledge with professionals through conference presentations, webinars, graduate student research, and public communications. Led by founder Dr. Patricia Cramer, the Institute contributes expertise to research, planning, and discussion of ways to make roads safer for wildlife while supporting connected landscapes for the future.
