## Description

Founded in 1911, the Wildlife Management Institute (WMI) is a private, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to conserving and enhancing wildlife and natural resources across North America. Its work combines a long-standing conservation tradition with a modern approach to professional wildlife management, aiming to protect wild places and enrich people’s lives.

WMI supports conservation through projects and initiatives, research, and services, and shares findings that can inform stronger management and enforcement. Its Poach & Pay report, for example, examines the biological and financial costs of illegal wildlife take, along with offender motivations, enforcement challenges, and practices for improving prosecution.

The Institute also connects professionals and the public with conservation information. Since 1946, its monthly Outdoor News Bulletin has covered important wildlife and natural resource management issues. WMI administers the North American Wildlife and Natural Resource Conference, an annual forum featuring sessions, workshops, and more than 150 meetings and functions focused on conservation policy.
