## Description

Willow Ledger creates beginner-friendly field notebooks for observing city wildlife, with its first volume focused on urban birds. Designed for everyday walks, the notebook helps readers learn common neighborhood species through practical guidance on how to watch, identify and record birds. It includes three short guides covering getting started, ethical observation and urban habitats, plus illustrated explanations of bird anatomy and field-guide terminology.

The notebook’s identification section features 14 common urban bird species, with filterable cards organized by habitat and size. Each card offers identifying features, behavior, voice, approximate length and typical settings, helping beginners compare birds they encounter. Willow Ledger also provides advice on when and where to look, choosing binoculars, keeping field notes and building identification skills through repeated walks.

Responsible observation is central to the material: readers are encouraged to give birds space, avoid nests, playback and baiting, protect sensitive location information, and respect paths and private property.
