## Description

Wiltshire Ornithological Society (WOS) is a registered charity established on 30 November 1974. With more than 500 members, the society encourages the study, recording and conservation of birds in Wiltshire. It brings together people interested in local birdlife and provides resources and activities for both experienced birders and those looking to learn.

WOS shares recent and historical sightings, offers guidance on submitting records, and maintains information on rare birds, species records, the Wiltshire bird list and bird distribution maps. Its website also highlights places to watch birds across the county, with location information being expanded over time. Members and visitors can explore local and national links, conservation material and society publications.

The society organises indoor and outdoor events, including field trips, and supports a Youth Section. Its ringing resources introduce bird ringing and learning to ring, with groups in North and West Wiltshire and information on recoveries and controls. Membership, a shop, news and contact details are also available through the WOS website, which serves as a hub for local birdwatching, learning and conservation.
