## Description

The Wiltshire Home Guard Living History Group is a volunteer organisation dedicated to researching and presenting the story of the Home Guard in Wiltshire during the Second World War. Its website documents the force from its formation in 1940 through its disbandment in 1945, with information on the county’s battalions, units, uniforms, weapons, activities, awards and personnel. The group’s historical coverage includes units from across Wiltshire, as well as specialist organisations such as the 2142 (Wiltshire) Mechanical Transport Company and the 101st Rocket Anti-Aircraft Battery.

Through living history portrayals, exhibits, talks and demonstrations, the group shares its research with the public and offers opportunities for people to see its work at events. The site also features a gallery, membership information, group activities and results from its annual James Bowles Cup shooting competition. Fundraising is another part of its work, including support for a charity of the year and the sale of pictorial fundraising items.
