## Description

Windpark Nijmegen-Betuwe is a community-driven initiative that provides sustainable energy to approximately 7,000 households annually, significantly contributing to the goal of achieving an energy-neutral Nijmegen by 2045. Owned by local citizens through the cooperative WindpowerNijmegen, the park features four Lagerwey L100 wind turbines that began operating in late 2016. The cooperative's involvement ensures that community members have a voice in decisions affecting their renewable energy sources.

In addition to wind energy, Windpark Nijmegen-Betuwe has recently launched the Zonnepark de Grift, featuring over 11,000 solar panels that generate enough electricity for an additional 10,000 households. This expansion marks a major milestone in the local commitment to renewable energy. Additionally, an environmental fund has been established to support local organizations and community groups, offering subsidies every two years to mitigate the impact of modern wind energy technology. Overall, Windpark Nijmegen-Betuwe exemplifies a collaborative approach to sustainable energy generation and environmental responsibility.
