## Description

Women in Liberal Arts and Technology (WLAAT) is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2017 to expand education opportunities for young people pursuing careers at the intersection of liberal arts and technology. The organization believes this combination helps students develop critical thinking, communication, and technical skills to address complex human challenges. WLAAT supports youth through education grants, community outreach, and ongoing mentorship, working with social agencies and local networks to identify deserving applicants. Its grant process includes an application and personal statement, interviews for selected candidates, and holistic evaluation. Since launching fundraising in 2019, WLAAT has awarded grants beginning in the 2020 academic year, including support for students such as a Guatemalan biology scholar pursuing conservation research. Volunteers fund the organization’s operating costs separately, allowing all donated funds to be distributed as grants. WLAAT also monitors grantee progress through follow-ups and mentoring, emphasizing lasting relationships alongside financial assistance. Initially rooted in Egypt, Guatemala, and India, the organization now seeks to support qualified youth regardless of geography or gender.
