The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) is a pivotal global initiative aimed at drowning prevention, launched by the World Waterpark Association in 2010. This renowned program, endorsed by numerous aquatics and safety organizations, emphasizes the critical importance of teaching swimming to children, a vital life-saving skill. With drowning being a leading cause of death among young children, WLSL seeks to raise awareness and promote aquatic safety through its annual event, which takes place across a variety of aquatic facilities worldwide, including waterparks, public pools, and swim schools.

In preparation for its 15th anniversary on June 20, 2024, WLSL continues its mission to reduce drowning risks by providing essential swimming instruction and fostering community engagement in water safety, underscoring that participation in swim lessons can decrease drowning risks by up to 88%.
