Wlwb, also known as the Wek'èezhii Land and Water Board, is a legally recognized management authority that regulates the use of land and water resources in the area of Wek'èezhii. This region is governed by the Tłı̨chǫ Land Claims and Self-Government Agreement, signed by the Tłı̨chǫ people of the Northwest Territories, the Government of Canada, and the Government of the Northwest Territories. The main objective of Wlwb is to ensure the conservation, development, and utilization of land and water resources to benefit all Canadians, with a particular focus on the residents of Wek'èezhii.

As a co-management body, the board consists of members appointed by the Federal and the Tłı̨chǫ Government. Their decisions hold legal binding power on government and developers seeking authorization for projects. Wlwb carries out various functions, including issuing licenses and permits, making decisions on water compensation and access to construction materials, and conducting preliminary screenings of development proposals to assess environmental impacts.

They are guided by the Tlicho Agreement, the Mackenzie Valley Resources Management Act, and the Mackenzie Valley Land Use Regulations. The board is dedicated to sustainable resource management and works closely with other regional boards, such as the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, to ensure a consistent application of regulations throughout the Mackenzie Valley
