Founded in 1968, West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) is a non-profit, 501C3 organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the ecologies of West Michigan. With over 50 years of environmental action, WMEAC is uniquely positioned to address emerging issues and new threats to the region's natural resources. At WMEAC, we offer a wide range of products and services aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Our solutions include initiatives focused on water conservation, climate change mitigation, and environmental education. We are also committed to promoting justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our efforts. One of our flagship events is the Mayors' Grand River Cleanup, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023.

This event brings together hundreds of volunteers to clean up the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. Participants are provided with gloves, trash bags, and a complimentary lunch to make the experience enjoyable for all ages and abilities.
