Women of Color Unite (WOCU) is a social action organization that is on a mission to promote fair access, fair treatment, and fair pay for women of color in the entertainment and media industries. With a focus on creating a more inclusive landscape, WOCU aims to empower women of color by providing mentorship programs, hosting events, and offering fiscal sponsorship to projects that align with their mission. One of their key initiatives is the #Startwith8 Program, which connects entertainment professionals with eight women and non-binary people of color working in the industry.

Through this program, participants collaborate to develop personalized plans of action to drive tangible progress in their careers. WOCU also advocates for transparency and accountability in TV and film screenwriting competitions, and they award the Sunshine Seal to services that meet their demands. Additionally, they endorse productions, companies, and industry leaders who hire at least 20% women of color as part of their verifiable workforce through the WOCU Seal.

To support their efforts, WOCU conducts annual surveys with their members to gain vital insight into the experiences of women and non-binary people of color in the entertainment industry. They offer Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) consultancy programs and provide non-profit production services.
