## Description

The Australian Women's Register, a result of the Australian Women’s Archives Program (AWAP), serves as a vital platform for acknowledging and celebrating the contributions of Australian women to society. Established in 1999 by the University of Melbourne and the National Foundation for Australian Women (NFAW), AWAP aims to highlight the social, cultural, historical, and economic impact of Australian women. Through original research, the AWR compiles valuable information on women's history, showcasing various groups like sportswomen, migrants, scientists, and parliamentarians in online exhibitions. Encouraging the preservation of women's history, AWAP urges individuals and organizations to deposit records in collecting institutions for the benefit of future generations. While larger institutions safeguard the papers of notable women, AWAP emphasizes the importance of preserving records in smaller establishments, ensuring a comprehensive documentation of women's experiences across different fields. Join us in preserving the legacy of remarkable women for posterity.
