## Description

Woodside Sanctuary is a registered nonprofit organisation and public benefit organisation in Cottesloe, Johannesburg, founded in 1955. Licensed under South Africa’s Mental Health Care Act, it provides full-time residential and day care for people with severe to profound intellectual and physical disabilities. The sanctuary is home to 84 residents, ranging in age from three to over 67, many of whom need lifelong, specialised support.

Woodside’s services include round-the-clock care in a safe, familiar home environment, delivered by trained professionals in facilities designed to meet residents’ complex needs. Its mission centres on offering residents security, love, understanding and dignity. The organisation also invites the public to support its work through donations, volunteering, the 500 Club, birthday-party sponsorship, bequests and other fundraising initiatives.

Woodside reports that financial difficulties have put its future at risk and that it urgently needs support to keep its doors open. For residents who have long regarded the sanctuary as home, continued care is essential.
