## Description

Word Kitchen SW CIC is a community interest company that uses literature and spoken word to foster connection, confidence and wellbeing. Based around Exeter and East Devon, it supports writers at every stage, from people taking their first steps to published authors, and welcomes a diverse range of voices and backgrounds.

The organisation runs creative writing workshops and courses, both in person and online, with no prior writing experience required. Its programme also includes open-mic gatherings, author talks, panel discussions, networking opportunities and special literary events. These activities give participants space to develop their writing, share work and encourage one another. Word Kitchen has hosted events at venues including Exeter Library, Exeter Phoenix and Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, where its Writers’ Hub brings writers together to connect and discover.

The brand is also home to the Exeter Novel Prize, which opens annually in September, and publishes The Power of Place, an anthology inspired by the East Devon landscape.
