## Description

Sopas de Letras Kings’ Word Search Contest is a Houston-based literacy initiative that brings people together through puzzles, friendly competition, and family-focused activities. Its mission is to improve family literacy with word-search fun and support nonprofit organizations. The contest welcomes participants from ages 8 to 88, encouraging children, adults, and older people to race against the clock and enjoy words together.

The organization stages live, in-person word-search events in Houston and surrounding areas, including smaller events at public schools and convalescent homes. Its annual grand event takes place during September’s Literacy Month. Contestants compete for cash prizes awarded to first-, second-, and third-place finishers, with the first-place winner crowned Word Search King for the year. The website also offers free puzzles and an entry form, and invites visitors to check for a contest location near them. Through accessible puzzles and community events, Sopas de Letras combines entertainment with a practical goal: helping make literacy more engaging and meaningful for families and communities.
