Established in 2003, Workshop Houston is a community hub that has transformed over the years to meet the needs of the youth in the Third Ward. Now known as Workshop Houston 2. 0, this brand is committed to confronting the systems that oppress the youth they serve.

Their culturally-specific arts education programs in the Beat Shop, Style Shop, Dance Shop, and Media Shop are still being offered, but with a fundamental change in how they are delivered. Workshop Houston now operates under a youth-adult partnership framework, led by the experienced Roderick Bass Tillman, and taught by near-peer instructors who are current and former participants aged 15-27. These near-peer instructors have a combined 36 years of experience, making them effective role models and leaders.

The brand empowers youth by providing them with education, collective action opportunities, and economic security. Workshop Houston 2. 0 is committed to creating positive change and invites the community to be part of their exciting journey
