# World Vegetarian Day - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `worldvegetarianday.org` ## Description World Vegetarian Day (WVD) is a global initiative that promotes vegetarianism and celebrates plant-based lifestyles. Established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society, WVD is celebrated every year on October 1st, marking the beginning of Vegetarian Awareness Month. The day invites individuals, schools, restaurants, and health organizations to engage in a variety of activities, from potlucks and food tastings to discussions about the benefits of a meat-free diet. WVD serves as a platform for everyone, whether seasoned vegetarians or newcomers curious about plant-based options. It encourages experimentation with delicious, healthful vegetarian meals and facilitates community conversations about compassionate eating. The celebration is flexible, allowing participants to host events tailored to their preferences, whether intimate or large-scale. With resources, outreach materials, and a welcoming environment for non-vegetarians, World Vegetarian Day inspires individuals worldwide to embrace the benefits of vegetarian diets while fostering health, joy, and sustainability in their communities. Join us in making this October a month of culinary exploration and awareness! ## Industries - 🎗 Community and Society - 🎗 Holidays and Seasonal Events _(under Community and Society)_ - 🍔 Food and Drink - 🍔 Vegetarian and Vegan _(under Food and Drink)_ ## Links - [facebook](https://facebook.com/WorldVegetarianDay) ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idO5YMikWS/w/217/h/163/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1722140070811) - icon _(primary)_ — JPEG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idO5YMikWS/w/664/h/664/theme/dark/icon.jpeg?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1722140070981) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Mountain Meadow | #169d5a | accent | | Black | #000000 | dark | | Cherokee | #fdd79a | light | ## Fonts - lorabold — asset _(custom)_ - open_sansbold — asset _(custom)_ --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
