## Description

WOTR (Watershed Organisation Trust) is an India-focused nonprofit working to reduce rural poverty by strengthening communities and restoring the ecosystems on which they depend. For three decades, it has partnered with rural people to improve management of land, water and forests and build resilience to climate change. Its integrated, ecosystem-based approach links environmental restoration with better livelihoods and community wellbeing.

WOTR’s programmes cover water and land management, agriculture, livelihood development, women’s empowerment, and health, sanitation and nutrition. The organisation also offers training and advisory services, and works through partnerships to share knowledge and support sustainable development. Its efforts aim to address challenges including ecosystem degradation, low agricultural productivity and communities’ overdependence on farming.

Together with its partners, WOTR reports reaching more than 6.93 million people across 7,124 villages in 10 Indian states. It also welcomes participation in training and exposure programmes, and offers opportunities to support its work through donations, volunteering and careers.
