## Description

WRAPT Wildlife Carers Townsville, or Wally’s, Roo’s and Possum’s Carers Association Townsville Incorporated, is a volunteer-powered organisation dedicated to supporting wildlife carers and protecting native species in Townsville and beyond. Its work focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing injured or orphaned wildlife, including wallabies, kangaroos, possums and other native animals. A 24/7 hotline connects callers with a trained rescuer, and an online reporting form is available for those unable to call. WRAPT also provides practical rescue guidance, including advice on how to keep an animal safe while waiting for help, and information to help people distinguish wildlife rescue needs from DMP matters. The organisation supports carers through resources, advocacy and crisis response, with around 40 active carers and an average of 1,096 animals assisted per year. Community members can contribute by donating, becoming a carer or sponsoring a joey. WRAPT also offers contact and support channels for wildlife reports and enquiries, helping the public take appropriate action when native animals need care.
