## Description

Weston-super-Mare and District Family History Society is a volunteer-led organisation founded in 1983, supporting people researching family connections in Weston-super-Mare and North-West Somerset. Open to local residents and those with family ties to the area, the Society brings members together through in-person and online activities. It holds monthly meetings in Weston-super-Mare, with some sessions recorded for members who cannot attend, and also runs regular meetings via Zoom. Two free, face-to-face library help sessions each month give researchers an opportunity to seek guidance.

The Society provides access to research resources, including parish and other transcripts, with birth, marriage and death records arranged by town or village. Members can also view and download the Society’s past journals and access journals from partner societies through reciprocal arrangements. Its website and Facebook group share updates, events, newsletters and research material. Other resources and projects cover local places and subjects such as the Axbridge Union Workhouse, Mendip Hospital, Milton Road Cemetery, war memorials, local personalities and wartime history.
