We are proud to safeguard the largest remaining areas of virgin and natural forests, which are home to two-thirds of the European populations of bears, lynx, and wolves. Additionally, the Danube River Basin and the Carpathian Mountains offer untouched rivers, wetlands, and the Danube Delta, a crucial habitat for endangered sturgeons. WWF Central and Eastern Europe offers a range of programs and initiatives focused on climate and energy, forest conservation, freshwater protection, the preservation of large carnivores, and youth empowerment.
