## Description

The WWF Protecting Whales & Dolphins Initiative is a dedicated global conservation program led by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), aiming to safeguard the future of cetaceans—whales, dolphins, and porpoises. With over 50 years of experience in marine conservation, WWF employs innovative field research techniques while advocating for the preservation of critical habitats and the cessation of commercial whaling practices. This initiative addresses pressing threats such as bycatch, climate change, habitat degradation, and pollution, which contribute to the alarming annual death toll of approximately 300,000 cetaceans.

Based primarily out of WWF Australia, the initiative operates with the collaboration of national offices and regional programs across multiple countries, including the United States, Germany, and South Africa. By equipping experts, policymakers, and governments with essential tools and solutions, WWF strives to create new marine protected areas and foster significant policy changes from local to global levels. Together, they work tirelessly to ensure these majestic ocean giants are preserved for future generations.
