## Description

Wichita Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) is a community organization serving young hockey players in Wichita, Kansas, and the home of the Jr. Thunder. Continuing a tradition of more than 50 years, the association aims to offer athletes a fun, safe, and competitive place to learn and play. Its programs are designed for different ages and skill levels, welcoming beginners as well as more advanced players.

WYHA emphasizes player development through USA Hockey-certified coaching. Coaches receive professional training and use age-specific drills to support athletes’ physical and mental growth. The association also highlights safety protocols, concussion awareness, background checks, and ethical screening for coaches.

Based at the Wichita Ice Center, WYHA provides hockey registration, practice schedules, team information, and opportunities to take part in tournaments. Its community activities include fundraising events, while apparel and other association information are available through its website. WYHA also recognizes support from partners such as SCHEELS. Together, these programs and resources help connect local families and athletes through youth hockey in Wichita.
