# Xiala

- **Website:** <https://xiala.net>
- **Primary alias:** `xiala.net`

## Description

It grew from a personal project into a collection of technology services, reflecting a belief that people should understand and shape the technologies they use. The site has offered hosted email accounts and web services, with a webmail interface and guidance for users transferring messages between mailboxes. It has also provided support and information to help people find alternatives or manage their data when services changed.

In 2018, the operators announced that they would discontinue many services because they could no longer devote the necessary time and energy to running them. They subsequently established a new mail server for continuing email accounts. Recent status updates describe temporary disruptions caused by power, connectivity, storage, and server-location issues, with service restored after outages. xiala.net is supported by donations and invites users to contribute toward its monthly funding target. Its updates and contact information help users follow service changes and reach the team.
