Yalow Charter is a K-5 grade school located in the Bronx District 9. Established in 2015 with 211 K-1 students, the school now proudly serves 525 K-5 students. Named after Nobel Laureate Dr.

Rosalyn S. Yalow, a renowned physicist and the second American woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Medicine, the school aims to inspire a new generation of Bronx children to excel in their education. Yalow Charter believes in a collaborative learning environment and incorporates arts, music, chess, and fencing into the curriculum to engage students and their families.

With a longer school day and no after-school programs, Yalow Charter focuses on integrating academic teaching with various activities. The school utilizes data-driven approaches, using assessment programs to guide teachers and administrators in making informed decisions. The new campus boasts impressive amenities including a 10,000 square foot playground and a spacious auditorium for student music programs.

In recognition of their achievements, the NYS Education Department has named Yalow Charter as a 2020 Achievement Recognition School, placing it among the top 13% of all public schools in New York State. Additionally, the school offers free mental health counseling, as well as medical, dental, and vision care through Montefiore’s School Health Program
