About
Description
YZO Year Zero One is a non-profit media arts organization that is dedicated to the creation, development, and presentation of electronic media art. They specialize in networked exhibitions and site-responsive projects in public spaces. Established in 1996 by Toronto artists Michael Alstad and Camille Turner, YZO has played a crucial role in fostering the growth of net-based art practice in the 90s.
Over the years, YZO has been involved in numerous large-scale projects, including the groundbreaking exhibition of electronic art at Pearson International Airport. They have also been at the forefront of exploring the creative potential of public urban screens and geographic information systems. YZO's focus is on promoting new and hybrid forms of artistic expression that combine new technologies with architectural and public spaces, as well as cultural applications for mobile devices.
With funding provided by organizations such as the Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts, YZO continues to support and produce innovative art projects
