About
Description
YHHAP (Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project) is a not-for-profit student organization dedicated to addressing housing and food insecurity in New Haven, Connecticut. With almost fifty years of experience, YHHAP is the hub for hunger and homelessness work at Yale University. We are committed to making a difference by providing direct service, community involvement, and advocacy efforts to tackle the root causes of these issues.
YHHAP operates through eleven different projects, offering services ranging from daily meals at a soup kitchen to housing and employment assistance through case management agencies. We also focus on combating entrenched homelessness by fundraising and protecting essential shelters in the city. Furthermore, we promote awareness and strive for institutional change through advocacy, policy, and education.
In New Haven alone, over 20% of residents are food insecure, and approximately 4,000 people are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. YHHAP aims to address these challenges and make a lasting impact on the community. Join us in creating a better future for our neighbors through volunteer opportunities, donations, and staying informed via our newsletter.
Together, we can alleviate hunger and homelessness in New Haven
