## Description

The Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union (YNU) is a registered charity and association of amateur and professional naturalists dedicated to studying and recording Yorkshire’s flora and fauna. With roots extending back more than 160 years, it is one of the country’s oldest wildlife organisations. The Union supports natural history across a broad range of subjects, including birds, plants, mammals, insects, fungi and lichens, freshwater and marine life, mosses, molluscs, reptiles and amphibians, and other arthropods.

Members and visitors can take part in wildlife recording, join field excursions and other events, and develop practical field skills. The YNU shares news, publications, newsletters and information about Yorkshire’s natural world, helping people connect with local biodiversity and contribute their observations. Its website also provides resources about the Union’s history and governance, details of affiliated societies, and a shop offering products for sale. Through its specialist sections, events and recording activities, the YNU brings together people interested in understanding and documenting Yorkshire’s wildlife.
