## Description

YOGA barrierefrei offers yoga instruction in Berlin for people with physical disabilities. Founded by yoga teacher Katja Sandschneider, who also lives with a physical impairment, the programme is shaped by personal experience and a focus on making yoga accessible to different bodies and abilities. Classes combine breathing exercises, adapted postures, relaxation, meditation and knowledge about yoga, with instruction tailored to each participant’s needs. Groups are limited to around ten people to support individual attention and a welcoming atmosphere.

Rather than expecting participants to perform conventional poses, the teaching approach works with them to find positions that are achievable, stable and comfortable. Movements can be adapted, and props such as chairs, straps and cushions are used where helpful. The aim is to foster a lasting improvement in body awareness and physical wellbeing, while supporting greater satisfaction in everyday life. YOGA barrierefrei also offers online open classes and a 75-minute audio CD for people who want to practise independently and at a flexible time.
