YOTA - Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa is a dynamic brand that aims to connect young people in Africa with life-changing opportunities. With a mission to transform lives, YOTA provides a range of products and services that empower youth across the continent. One of their notable initiatives, the Youth on Board project, focuses on engendering youth voices in Ghana’s education response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this project, YOTA has organized workshops and forums, as well as provided monitoring and accountability training for youth representatives in eight municipalities across the country. These activities equip them with the necessary skills to advocate for their rights and contribute to positive change. Additionally, YOTA offers the Get Into Youth Employment program, funded by the Prince's Trust International, to support Ghanaian youth in building employability skills and securing job placements. Through targeted training and work experience, young people are prepared for roles in the green economy, tourism, and hospitality industries. YOTA also implements the Adwuma Pa project, in partnership with various organizations, to provide essential life skills training for girls in Ghana's cocoa value chain. This initiative aims to combat child labor and forced labor, and has already trained thousands of women and girls, providing them with vocational skills and startup kits. Furthermore, YOTA and Restless Development have launched the Africa Youth Partnership for an Equitable Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic. With funding from the Ford Foundation, this initiative empowers young people across Africa to address pressing issues and play a leading role in the continent's recovery. Youth Task Teams have been created in ten pilot countries, engaging in advocacy activities and participating in international events. The Vibe Check Soft Skills and Youth Employability program, in partnership with the Prince's Trust International, equips youth with basic soft skills through a Whatsapp chatbot and provides opportunities for networking with employers at job fairs. Lastly, YOTA implements the Pathways for Sustainable Employment for Women and Youth (PASEWAY) project, which aims to create formal employment opportunities in the construction and hospitality sectors. This 36-month project, funded by BMZ and managed by Plan International, mobilizes youth interested in these sectors and provides training and support for sustainable employment. Through these diverse programs, YOTA is making a profound impact in Africa, equipping young people with the necessary skills, opportunities, and resources to transform their lives and contribute to their communities.
