## Description

The Yoto Carnegies is the UK's prestigious and enduring children's book awards that celebrate excellence in writing and illustration for children and young people. The Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing is bestowed upon remarkable English-language books, while the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration recognizes outstanding illustrations in children's literature. What sets these awards apart is that they are exclusively judged by librarians, with a remarkable list of past winners. Engaging in the Yoto Carnegie Shadowing Scheme, thousands of children immerse themselves in the shortlisted books through reading groups in schools and libraries, culminating in the Shadowers' Choice Awards. Organized annually by CILIP and the Youth Libraries Group, the Awards aim to inspire the next generation through the power of books and reading. With longlists in February, shortlists in March, and winners announced in June, the Yoto Carnegies embody a commitment to fostering a love for literature.
