Youth As Resources is a youth-led nonprofit organization founded in 1994, dedicated to addressing critical community and institutional challenges. Our mission is to empower young people to make a difference in their communities on their own terms. With a high-functioning Board of Directors composed of youth and young adults aged 14-24, we believe in the power of those directly affected by unjust systems to create positive change.

Our impact spans various areas, including grant making, workforce development, leadership development, organizing, and advocacy. Over the years, we have distributed nearly a million dollars to 505 youth-led community organizing projects. Additionally, we provide year-round and summer employment to 164 youth through our Task Force strategy, where skilled and motivated YAR youth Board members organize and train their peers.

We also facilitate school climate clubs in Baltimore City High Schools and Middle Schools, advocating for consistent youth voice and organizing. Our advocacy efforts have resulted in the institutionalization of the school police report card and youth demands incorporated into school police policies. Furthermore, we prioritize disability rights through workshops focused on disability awareness, trauma, and inclusion.
