## Description

Stichting de Zaanse Kaper is a Dutch heritage foundation dedicated to studying and interpreting traditional Zaan-region clothing and fashion from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Since 1994, the organization has researched local costume using authentic garments and jewellery, alongside literature research and historical estate inventories. This work helps develop new insights into the region’s history and cultural heritage.

The foundation also brings historical dress to life at events, where it wears handmade reproductions created to be as historically accurate as possible. Through these costumes, Stichting de Zaanse Kaper shares the history behind the clothing with the public. Its website provides information about the foundation, its statutes and annual reports, as well as a course, event agenda, archive and library. Visitors can also find contact details and follow the organization on social media. By combining research, historically informed costume making and public engagement, the foundation supports greater understanding of traditional dress and the heritage of the Zaan region.
