# ZEC saumon Matane - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `zecsaumonmatane.com` - **Location:** Matane, Quebec, Canada ## Description Welcome to the official website of La Société de gestion de la rivière Matane, the organization responsible for managing salmon fishing in the ZEC de la rivière Matane territory. Stretching nearly 80 km, from downtown Matane to Lake Matane in the wildlife reserve, the Matane River is one of the best salmon rivers in Quebec. It is easy to fish and highly accessible, making it the ideal spot for novice anglers. Our organization is dedicated to protecting the salmon population and the river's ecosystem. We have observed a recurring issue in a section of the Cap-Seize pool, where a significant number of salmon seek refuge during low and warm-water periods. Unfortunately, poor fishing practices in this area result in accidental captures and injuries to the salmon. To address this issue, we are prohibited from implementing certain fishing equipment restrictions. However, after discussions with the Ministry of Wildlife, we have decided to temporarily ban fishing in this section of the Cap-Seize pool from August 1st onwards, when the vulnerability of the salmon is particularly high. We are committed to protecting the salmon and ensuring sustainable fishing practices.
