## Description

GreatFireVPN is a virtual private network developed by GreatFire.org, an anti-censorship organization founded in 2011. It is designed to help people maintain access to the open internet in countries with heavy restrictions, including China, Russia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Myanmar and India, and is also used in Cuba. Drawing on more than a decade of experience, the service uses multiple circumvention methods and automatically selects a suitable connection strategy and server for the user’s network conditions. Features include split tunneling on Android, local access to selected services in certain countries, and support for whitelist-based shutdowns in Russia. GreatFireVPN states that it does not log online activity or collect personal data, and users can try it without registration. Apps are available for Android, iOS, macOS and Windows, with support for up to 10 devices per account. New users receive a 30-day free trial; paid plans range from 30 to 365 days, with payments accepted through the website, app stores and cryptocurrency. The service is intended for censorship circumvention and privacy, rather than streaming.
